The app
Your photos and videos
Cullzy reads the files in folders you choose and moves them between folders on your own disk. Nothing about them leaves your computer: no thumbnails, no filenames, no metadata, no counts. There is no account to create and no server that knows what you have.
What the app works out about your photos stays on your computer too. Finding look-alikes, blurry shots and searchable labels is done by your Mac’s own on-device analysis, and the results are kept in the app’s folder on your disk. Tags you add are written into the files themselves, or into a sidecar file next to them, where any photo app can read them.
Updates
The app checks for new versions by asking GitHub, where the releases are published, for the latest version number. Like any web request, that reveals your IP address to GitHub. The request also carries the app version and a random identifier that the update library makes up when the app is installed, so an update can be rolled out gradually. It is not linked to you, your files or anything else. No crash reports or usage statistics are sent.
Maps
If you choose “Show in Maps” for a photo that has a location, the app opens that spot in the Maps app, or in OpenStreetMap in your browser. Nothing is sent until you click it.
This website
The waitlist
If you join the waitlist we keep:
- your email address,
- when you joined, and which form on the site you used,
- your browser’s description of itself (its “user agent”), which helps spot automated signups.
We use it to send you two emails and nothing else: a note now to say you are on the list, and one when it is your turn to try the app. No newsletter. Every email says how to leave the list, and replying to either works too. We delete the list once everyone on it has had their turn, or your address as soon as you ask.
Feature requests
The feature request form keeps what you write, the time, your browser’s user agent and, only if you give it, your email address so we can reply. Requests are kept for as long as they help decide what to build.
Visits
We count visits with Umami, a privacy-focused analytics tool. It sets no cookies, does not store your IP address and does not follow you across other sites. We see totals: which pages are read, which site sent you, your country, the kind of device and browser, and which buttons on the page are pressed (for example, how many people clear the pile of photos or join the list).
The site itself remembers two settings in your browser, light or dark appearance and whether the desk makes sounds. They never leave your device. The pricing page uses your country, as reported by our host, to show prices in rupees or dollars; it is not stored.
Who handles it for us
A few services do the work, each only for its own part:
- Cloudflare hosts this site and protects it from abuse. Like every host, it sees the IP address of each visit and keeps short-lived technical logs.
- Google stores the waitlist and the feature requests in a spreadsheet.
- Resend sends the emails.
- Umami counts visits, as described above.
- GitHub serves the app’s updates.
Some of these keep data outside India, mostly in the United States and the European Union. None of them may use it for anything but providing their service to us. We do not sell or share your information with anyone else, and we never will.
Your rights
Write to contact@cullzy.com to see, correct or delete what we hold about you, or to leave the list. We answer as a person, usually within a few days. Wherever you live, you get the same answer; if you are in the European Union, the United Kingdom or India, the law also gives you these rights, and you may complain to your data protection authority.
Children
The app and this site are not directed at children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If this page changes, the date at the top changes with it. We will not quietly start collecting something this page says we do not.
