PhotoSift for Mac: one key, one folder, on a Mac

There's no Mac version of PhotoSift; it's a Windows program. On a Mac, cullzy works the same way: the photo fills the screen, one key moves it into a folder, and the next one comes up. It adds an undo that survives quitting, RAW previews, and screenshots, forwards and duplicates found for you.

What PhotoSift does

PhotoSift, by RL Vision, is a free, open-source Windows tool for exactly one job: you assign keys to folders, an image fills the screen, and pressing a key moves or copies it into that folder. It loads the next images ahead of time so there's no waiting, and it has unlimited undo. People who used it on Windows tend to miss it on a Mac, because nothing built into macOS works that way.

Running it on a Mac means a Windows virtual machine, which is a lot of setup for a sorting tool.

What's different in cullzy

  • Fewer keys, plus search. Number keys cover nine piles. For the folder you didn't plan for, ⌘K finds it by a few letters of its name, or makes it.
  • It does the bulk piles first. Screenshots, WhatsApp and Telegram forwards, exact copies and near-copies are found when you open a folder and offered as one selection each.
  • Pairs move together. A RAW and its JPEG, or a Live Photo and its video, are one item.
  • Photos come back in the order they were taken if you like, split into events, so a whole event can be filed at once.
  • The session is saved after every photo. Quit halfway, and it opens where you left off, undo included.
